Dorothy Matthews Martin

Augusta, GA - Dorothy Matthews Martin, age 82, died Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at her home in Martinez, GA. She was a native of Savannah and lived for most of her life in Savannah before moving to Augusta in 1991. She worked for the Union Bag Co. and Southeastern Shipyard in the 1940’s and then worked for many years at Ben’s Drive-In on Bull Street. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her son, Freddy Wade, a sister, Margie Sanderson, her brother, Bill Matthews, Jr., and her husband, Jesse Martin.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Gadziemski of Martinez, GA; a son, John Thomas Roach, Jr. of Sierra Vista, AZ; three sisters, Linda Beasley and Gladys Kirkland, both of Savannah and Helen Bolin of Ellabell; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm on Friday, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
